Example 1 : 57²=?

(i)                First get the difference of the desired value with 25 and 50 respectively. Here    the desired value is 57. Thus calculate in mind the value of 57-25 and 57-50

(ii)        
57-25=32 and 57-50=7

(iii)               We will write 32 followed by 7²=49

(iv)              Thus 57²=3249

Note : If the difference value with 50 comes 10 or more than 10 than we have to carry the 100 place value and than add it with the value of difference with 25.

Example 2 : 38²=?

(i)                  38-25=13 and 50-38=12 (12²=144 take 1 as carry and add with 13)

(ii)                (13+1)44 = 1444
